Conflict is inherent in any relationship and when managed well it is healthy. It can serve to signal differences of opinion, stimulate creativity, allow underlying issues to be addressed and the relationship to develop. After all, no two humans think exactly alike, so how can we expect 100% agreement in a relationship?
Conflict becomes unhealthy when a relationship doesn’t have a way of managing its differences, when unhelpful or toxic behaviours predominate and when it is no longer a means to more productive conversation or ways of working. When conflict leads to a unpleasant working atmosphere and ultimately staff sickness, absenteeism and increased staff turnover, help may be required.
As conflict management specialists, we create safe and structured environments to help partnerships, teams and larger multi-stakeholder systems to gain a deep awareness of what is happening in their system.
We help teams to deepen their understanding of the complex interplay of relationships, behaviours and roles that play out, and the influence of the wider system With this wisdom teams start to build on their strengths and harness differences for improved collaboration and increased creativity.
We work with teams and partnerships through bespoke programmes of support, usually for around 4 - 6 sessions over a period of 2 to 6 months, sometimes longer. This includes a thorough initial diagnosis to fully understand the needs of your relationship and to help you identify specific development goals. All programmes of support are iterative, working with a system's specific needs as they arise and with one session informing the design of the next. Review and evaluations are built in throughout to programme to ensure a system's goals are being met.
